Learn About Chris Saylor

Working remotely out of Chapel Hill, NC, Chris Saylor leads a team of engineers at Zumba on a variety of projects from e-commerce and supply chain to membership billing and streaming media platforms. He is heavily involved in bringing new projects to production participating in design, development, and deployment.

Chris is an advocate of open-source software leading an effort within Zumba to share code and contribute back to projects used in daily operations. He is an active community member of Traingle PHP meetup group, contributes to Zumba’s Tech Blog, and has spoken at developer conferences such as SunshinePHP, DutchPHP, and PHP Northwest.

While at work the shop is mostly PHP and JavaScript, Chris experiments with other languages and toolkits such as NodeJS and Go-lang. He owns and operates Boxmeup, which is currently undergoing a rewrite with Go-lang and React, and Smashlists, a Node.js application that integrates with Todoist for automated stakeholder reports.

When not coding, Chris enjoys a little gaming and hiking with his wife and son.

About the Event

SyntaxCon (derived from Syntax Conference) is Coastal South Carolina’s premier programmer’s code conference. The event is a full stack code conference focused on fostering ongoing education and opportunities among the developer community.

This year’s schedule provides content across 3 main tracks, each with a specific focus:

  • Front-End Development
  • Back-End Development
  • Platforms (content management systems, cloud-hosted services, mobile applications and infrastructure.

Attendees can customize their personal agenda by choosing sessions with an aim to improve their craft, fulfill goals, and learn cutting edge trends and best practices in a relatively short time.
