Kevin Collins is an incredibly fortunate young man. He has had the opportunity to not only indulge, but embrace and monetize his passions – music, travel and code.
Kevin’s infectious zest for life and learning, has afforded him a diverse employment progression. He’s gone from merchandise and tour manager for various bands, through coding bootcamp to programming professional and open source contributor, bringing with him translatable lessons learned along the way.
Kevin currently lives and works in the Charleston, South Carolina area. He spends his days at Jack Russell Software building scalable systems in a componentized manner using a service oriented architecture, in other words – developing software to improve healthcare and deliver ‘precision medicine’. Kevin’s tool kit includes, but is not limited to Node.js, CouchDb, MySQL, MsSQL, Bootstrap, CSS, HTML, HyperScript, Angular, and Virtual DOM.
Kevin brings equal enthusiasm to his ‘off work hours’. His natural curiosity, love of travel and constant thirst for new experiences led to him indulging his wanderlust. Kevin has hiked in the Himalayas, wandered across the Sahara in search of fortified cities, eaten fresh seafood on the Amalfi coast and drank Guinness in castles in Ireland.
Kevin says it best, he describes himself as an ‘… outdoor loving tech junkie, addicted to travel [who gets to do] cool things with code at Jack Russell Software’ where he is employed as a Software Engineer.
