Speaker Spotlight – Vernon Kesner

Although Vernon Kesner currently functions as a Front-End Architect for Ally Financial, he brings to the table experience managing Enterprise Development Teams, and conducting training in JavaScript and Front-End Strategy. In addition, he has capably led and directed client-side strategy, architecture, tooling and workflow for Fortune 500 Front-End, and Sustain Enterprise Development Teams.

Vernon indicates, and acknowledges the necessity of always being in a posture conducive to learning. “ … This industry doesn’t understand the phrase ‘standing still’. As a frontend developer, you either learn constantly or you get left behind”.  His efforts to keep abreast of technology keep him busy reading books, perusing blogs, tutorials and attending conferences.

The ability to curate UI components into living, breathing, Design Systems that can be shared across teams and entire Enterprises is a key passion for Vernon. This ultimately resulted in his creation of PatternGuide, a workflow tool and living style guide generator designed to enhance developer productivity, increase cross-discipline collaboration efforts, and create a well-structured and maintainable pattern library.

For Vernon his family and their well-being are of the utmost importance. He values his role as husband and father, and makes spending quality time with them a priority.  Aside from his work-related pursuits, Vernon enjoys reading, watching sports and movies, playing video games, travel and a variety of fitness related activities.
